Well aren’t I just a tease! Go talking about monthly updates then I disappear. Promise video clips and radio silence! Honestly it’s pretty true. The last 6 or so weeks have been crazy busy with work and other life and family and there hasn’t been enough time for sleep let alone practicing. (Plenty of time tho for jotting down new lymrics and thus making my to do list longer! @.@) The next week or so should hopefully wrap up most the rest of that business however and then back to it!

…and yea, about those videos… So the whole reason I was making those was so that I could practice my recording skills and work on my set-up. Well, here’s what I’ve learned: my keyboard will record straight onto an SD card, but in this manner only exports at 44.1 kHz (the standard for music). Both my camera and my iPhone (which frustratingly enough takes better video than my camera) only record at 30fps (American film standard). Well, you don’t have to know what those mean or be a math wiz to see that neither of those numbers jives well with the other. The result is that the video ends up a solid 5 seconds behind the audio with half the song left to go. :/ So, yes, there are videos, but the sound kinda stinks and I’m not sure I care to share a less than optimal cover with you all. Basically what I’ve learned is that I need to record the audio directly into the iPhone or both audio and video directly into the computer which involves a fair amount more set-up time and I just haven’t been able to mess around with it yet. Or, you know, I could buy better equipment. :/

I also keep talking about a band. Well, we might as well change our name to a cheesy soap opera because while guitar players may be a dime a dozen, we are having a hell of a time finding one that works well with us. Mostly I think everyone is busy with life/school/family which in fact is the same reason our original guitarist didn’t work out. So it’s all good. We’re holding up. Plenty of fish in the sea and all that. …but seriously, soap opera. @.@

The good news is that I have Memorial Day weekend set aside entirely for music stuffs. My goal is to record at least a couple of these new songs and maybe get some post work done on them so I can have something for you as early as mid June or July.
