Photography

There is no hiding the fact that my writing tends toward the melancholy side, but that does not mean I am never happy.  Those are typically the moments when I am most present and engaged in the world – doing rather than contemplating.  but sometimes that present engagement is the act of photography, capturing the moment to return to on a more gloomy day, or just remember all of the places I have been.  Other days photography is the pen with which I write my melancholy tune, as no sound is quite so visual, and no model quite so formidable as our dear mother earth.

All of the images below are available for purchase as high quality downloads, or fancy sets of postcards.  Store coming soon, or just shoot me an email with what you are interested in at: orders@katrinalouisesandle.com.

There are still signs that someone somewhere cared enough to put their blood sweat and tear — or someone else's — into changing, sculpting, or creating something on this earth.  Some of these things endure, maintained by new generations who have inherited these things.  Others fade away, their history fading to a mystery for the uninitiated to stumble across and marvel at, in their own turn creating new histories for the former's forgotten dream.

There is beauty in darkness.  It is subtler, quieter than the exuberant joy of bright light.  But that nature alone allows for the calm appreciation and contentment I find much easier to maintain. Not all things dark are melancholy.

Vibrance

A mood, a feeling, a mental space.  I capture this much better in image than in sound.

Sometimes it is all in the angle, or how you look at it.  Other times it is the filter you look through.

These are images I took that I love that... may not have copied over quite how I had hoped from an old hard drive.  Long story short, I have them, but just the thumbnail size instead of the full HD image.  ...Technology, right?!
