Well this is a new trend. I have written five songs so far this year (untintentionally mind you as I’m still working on finishing/learning/ recording those 3x~ others from before… whoops!).  AND they all have a harmony.  AND it’s one I can actually play.  Yes indeed folks that’s five out of five new songs that are realatively complete in their acoustic form.

…now I’m not saying they’re good songs. I’ve been in a bit of a “repetition” mood of late so that may be part of why they are easier to complete/memorize/etc. But they are complete entities that I can now share or perform or destroy and hide away as I come to terms with them. This is a new thing and really what I have been working for all these years: to be able to just sit down and -with little work – write out an idea, music and all.

It feels great. Not gonna lie. (Even if it turns out they all suck)

But beyond feeling good they also have a different character. At the moment I’d say they lean a bit more to authentic and “in the moment”. Really expressing a feeling, and much less contrived or watered down. Mostly less contrived.

Now the trick will just be to practice them so I can remember these versions and not have to “contrive” to make them work later on down the road.

New things are coming. Hang in there and sooner or later you will see!
